Biblical Counseling

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." - II Timothy 3:16-17 (HCSB)

Answers to Common Questions About our Biblical Counseling Ministry

What is Biblical Counseling?

We believe God’s Word is sufficient and provides everything necessary to know Him and live in a way that is pleasing to Him 2 Tim. 3:16,17; 2 Pet. 1:3). God blesses those who are living a life of obedience to Him as discovered in His Word. The person who follows God’s counsel can have hope, contentment, and answers to all the problems and pressures of daily life.

What Kind of Counseling is available?

We offer pre-marriage, marriage and family, individual (including personal and spiritual growth, depression, anxiety, grief, stress, handling difficult relationships, etc.). The counseling is based on the Bible. God’s Word is sufficient to answer the problems of life and is superior to any other source of counsel.

Who Counsels?

Counselors are pastors and other qualified individuals trained in biblical counseling.

What does Counseling Cost?

All counseling is done free of charge for our church members.  Those outside of the church should make an appropriate donation to the pastor conducting the counseling.  Homework assignments will be given.  You will be expected to pay for the materials used during counseling.  This cost usually does not exceed $20 to $30.

When Will I Be Counseled?

Counseling is available by appointment only. Sometimes a counselor may not be immediately available and there will be a waiting period.

How Long Will Counseling Last?

Counseling sessions typically last for one hour each week for approximately 10-12 weeks. The number of sessions may be shortened or lengthened depending on progress made.

Confidentiality

Everything is strictly confidential except where, in the counselor’s judgement, there is a biblical requirement to involve others.

Homework

Homework is assigned and must be completed between counseling sessions to ensure lasting change. Weekly assignments must be completed in order to continue counseling.
