Music

God created music!  Ps 150:6, “Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord…”  Westport Baptist music presents Jesus Christ as Lord.  Music vocally and instrumentally is promoted to enhance the Gospel to everyone that believeth.  We believe music is a channel by which christians my honor the Lord during each service.  We believe Ps 40:3 explains it best:  “He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God…” 
 
Music is a mode of communication that prepares the hearts, softens our spirits and makes us ready to hear and respond to God’s word.  A high priority is given to music in our services.  Westport Baptist loves great music that honors the Lord.
 
Musical opportunities for present and future:
 
Adult Choir.
      Choir presents special music each Sunday morning and sometimes during Sunday evening services.
      Rehearsal time is 4:30 each Sunday evening.
      Singers are welcomed ofsenior high student age through adult.
      Choir prepares for special events, Christmas, Easter and Patriotic.
 
Church orchestra:
      Orchestra plays for all Sunday services.
      All ages are welcomed, upon approval from music pastor
      Rehearsal time is each Sunday at 5:30 pm in auditorium.
      Orchestra is comprised of: trumpets, trombones, clarinets, flutes, tubas, saxophones, oboes, cellos, (band instruments) Violins are needed.
     
 
Special Music:
      This area is represented by soloists, duets and groups.
      They participate in each Sunday service, morning and evening.
      Vocal and instrumental music is welcomed in each service.
 
Sound and Media ministries:
      A sound technician is used in every service conducted in the auditorium.
      Technician to operate the screens is also used in each service.
      Those interested in these areas must be interviewed by the Music Pastor.
